Role Purpose
To provide independent oversight, constructive challenge, and strategic guidance to the Board and executive leadership, with a particular focus on strengthening brand positioning, accelerating market share growth, and ensuring long-term value creation in the premium consumer electronics and luxury audio market.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Oversight & Challenge
- Critically evaluate and challenge the company’s strategic direction, ensuring alignment with market opportunities and competitive dynamics.
- Test assumptions underpinning growth plans, especially in the UK and wider European markets.
- Provide independent perspective on investment priorities, partnerships, and expansion opportunities.
- Ensure the business balances innovation, profitability, and brand integrity.
2. Brand & Positioning Leadership
- Challenge and refine the company’s premium brand positioning in an increasingly competitive and fragmented marketplace.
- Advise on maintaining differentiation in luxury, design, and acoustic excellence while remaining commercially relevant.
- Ensure consistency between brand promise, customer experience, and product delivery across all channels.
- Encourage bold, insight-driven marketing strategies that reinforce brand desirability and cultural relevance.
3. Market Share Growth & Commercial Performance
- Scrutinise go-to-market strategies, distribution models, and channel effectiveness (retail, e-commerce, partnerships).
- Challenge management on pricing strategy, customer segmentation, and competitive positioning.
- Support the identification of new revenue streams, customer segments, and growth markets.
- Ensure clear metrics and accountability for market share expansion and commercial performance.
4. Governance & Risk
- Uphold the highest standards of corporate governance and ethical leadership.
- Ensure robust oversight of financial performance, risk management, and internal controls.
- Provide independent judgement free from conflicts of interest.
- Support effective Board dynamics, ensuring diversity of thought and constructive debate.
5. Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as an ambassador for the company, enhancing its reputation with key stakeholders.
- Bring external insight on consumer trends, luxury markets, and technological innovation.
- Foster strong relationships with shareholders and key partners where appropriate.
Candidate Profile
Experience
- Proven Board or senior executive experience, ideally within premium consumer goods, luxury, technology, or design-led brands.
- Demonstrated track record of challenging and shaping business strategy at a senior level.
- Experience driving brand transformation, repositioning, or market share growth.
- Strong understanding of UK and/or international consumer markets.
