Non-Executive Director – Fire & Air
First Compliance (Part of Group of Companies: Fire, Air, Water, Lift Safety)
Role Overview
First Compliance is seeking a Non-Executive Director (NED) with expertise in compliance, health, and safety, particularly in the fire and air sectors. The NED will provide oversight and challenge to ensure the business applies best practice in compliance and health & safety across all board discussions and decisions.
This is a non-strategic role, focused on assurance rather than broader corporate strategy, supporting the board in maintaining high standards of governance and operational safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide independent oversight of compliance and H&S matters
- Challenge the board to ensure robust risk management and regulatory adherence
- Support the board’s understanding of sector-specific compliance requirements
- Attend board meetings and any relevant sub-committee meetings as required
- Bring sector expertise, judgement, and practical insight to board discussions
Person Specification
- Strong experience in compliance, health & safety, specifically in fire and air sectors
- Senior leadership or executive-level experience
- Ability to provide constructive challenge while maintaining collaborative relationships
- Sound judgement, integrity, and governance awareness
- Commitment to the company’s purpose and values
Time Commitment & Remuneration
- Day rate plus reasonable expenses
- Approximate 6–12 days per year, flexible depending on client need
- Meetings may be in person or remote, as required
Future Opportunities
This is the first NED role for the Fire and Air business within the group. Subsequent NED roles will be created for the Water and Lift businesses.
