Thrive Renewables has been connecting people to sustainable energy for over 30 years. Through a community of thousands of investors, the organisation funds, builds and operates renewable energy projects across the UK, helping accelerate the transition to a low-carbon future.

 

Since its inception, Thrive has funded or built 48 renewable energy projects with a combined capacity of 370MW and currently manages a portfolio of 37 operational, construction and development-stage projects spanning onshore wind, solar, hydro, battery storage, geothermal energy and heat technologies.

 

A certified B Corporation ranked amongst the UK's top performers, Thrive is pursuing ambitious growth plans, including a target to double its generation capacity by 2028.

 

The Opportunity

 

Thrive Renewables is seeking two values-driven Non-Executive Directors to join its established Board and support the next phase of growth.

 

The Board currently comprises three Executive Directors and seven Non-Executive Directors. The successful candidates will bring strategic insight, independent challenge and sector expertise while helping the organisation balance commercial growth with its environmental and social mission.

 

Position One: Impact & Ethical Entrepreneurship NED

 

This appointment is suited to an individual with experience supporting high-impact organisations through growth and scale.

 

Key Experience

  • Experience working with purpose-led or impact-focused businesses
  • Strong understanding of impact investing and sustainable finance
  • Networks within impact funds, renewable energy or social investment sectors
  • Stakeholder engagement and partnership-building expertise
  • Experience contributing to strategy, innovation and product development
  • Long-term focus on environmental, social and stakeholder outcomes

 

Position Two: Corporate, Commercial & Finance NED

 

This appointment is aimed at a commercially focused board leader with strong financial and governance credentials.

 

Key Experience

  • Significant corporate, commercial and financial leadership experience
  • Experience supporting capital raising and growth strategies
  • Knowledge of investment markets and the energy sector
  • Experience within high-growth businesses, listed companies or investment funds
  • Strong governance and risk management expertise
  • Financial oversight capability with likely membership of the Audit Committee
  • Commercial efficiency and operational scaling experience

 

Responsibilities (Both Roles)

  • Provide independent oversight, support and constructive challenge to the Board and Executive Team
  • Contribute to strategic planning, financial oversight and risk management
  • Attend and actively participate in Board meetings
  • Act as an ambassador for Thrive Renewables with investors and industry stakeholders
  • Uphold high standards of governance, ethics and accountability
  • Support the development and mentoring of senior leadership colleagues
  • Help guide the organisation through its next phase of growth and impact

 

Candidate Profile

The successful candidates will ideally bring:

  • Previous Non-Executive Director experience or readiness for a first board appointment
  • Strategic thinking and long-term planning capability
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and mentoring skills
  • Experience developing high-performing teams
  • Knowledge of the UK renewable energy market and/or investment landscape
  • Commitment to sustainability, climate action and positive social impact
  • Alignment with Thrive Renewables' mission and values

 

Terms of Appointment

  • Remuneration: £17,500 per annum
  • Time commitment: Approximately 12–15 days per year
  • Board meetings held at least quarterly
  • Opportunity to contribute to one of the UK's longest-established renewable energy investment organisations
